Budapest - 1997

In 1997, I decided that I hadn't been to a Grand Prix for far too long. I therefore headed off for a long weekend in Budapest. It's a fabulous city for the tourist. The food and drink are exquisite and cheap, the architecture is beautiful and steeped in history, and the people are warm and friendly.

Amongst my lasting memories; the pelinka aperitif that starts each evening, the evocative sounds of hammer dulcimer and violin that accompany every meal, trying to get a photo of Michael's Ferrari as the elegantly dressed crowd admired it on their way into the suberbly grand Opera House, and, of course, Damon's heroic bid for victory at the Hungaroring in his lowly Arrows...
