The Rosebank Project

There are moves afoot to improve the Rosebank, an area of land bounded by Westfield Road, Rosebank Road and Woodsley Road, in north-west Leeds, in time for the Millennium. The Rosebank is a very special open green space in the heart of our district and we in the Project believe it coulb be made more useful and delightful to local people, young and old, as a 'Millennium Green'.

As a 'Millennium Green', The Rosebank would have access to national lottery funds set aside for this purpose. The land would be leased from the City Council and managed by a charitable Trust of local people, for the benefit of the surrounding community for the next thousand years.

We have received a small grant from the fund to prepare and cost a plan for improvement. Groundwork Environmental Services (Leeds) are acting as our technical consultants.

As you read this, a detail from their initial plans is loading below.

This will take a little time, as it is quite large, but once loaded, you will be able to scroll across the area to get a better understanding of what is currently proposed.

The plan will only be approved if it represents what local people want and are prepared to use and respect. For this reason, one of the first priorities of the steering group is to enable as many local people to be consulted as possible, through meetings and presentations, but also by carrying out a survey of all houses in the area to find out what people think of the idea of improving the Rosebank.

At the end of the day, plans for The Rosebank must be practical, easy to maintain, resistant to damage and within budget, but we hope to accomodate as

many good ideas as possible. This is a unique open space and we hope to make it into an assett that our neighbourhood can be proud of.
